VISION

Our family ministry is all about our little ones meeting and knowing Jesus! We hold three core values for serving our kids well that help us define and teach the Gospel to any child that God would bring into the care of Frontline Kids. We seek to emulate and embody the love of God by serving kids with eager and loving hearts. We love people by caring for parents, as well as children, and by resourcing parents as the primary “disciplers” for their children. We push back darkness by teaching children about Jesus as the only for them and for this world. Frontline Kids is about serving God, serving parents, and caring for children.

CURRICULUM

Our curriculum relies heavily upon the Jesus Storybook Bible (JSB) by Sally Lloyd-Jones. This book is a great resource for our kids in revealing Christ in every biblical narrative, showing that the whole of scripture is about Jesus! The JSB engages kids with rich, historically faithful explanations of the Gospel and colorful graphics that shape each story and their imaginations.
We also utilize the New City Catechism in our classrooms. A “catechism” is a basic summary of foundational Christian beliefs the church has held throughout history. The New City Catechism makes these truths accessible and simple. Through the catechism, the children will learn about the Apostle’s Creed, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord’s prayer.

SAFETY

While in Frontline Kids, we employ several essential safeguards to ensure the safety of all children. First, all team members are trained over a wide range of child-safety topics, using a curriculum called Ministry Safe. Our team members also complete a professional background check before they serve with kids to ensure there are no disqualifying instances in their past that would prevent them from safely working with children. We also implement a strict “Two-Adult” rule at all times, ensuring that a child is never alone with an adult.
In addition to these protocols, we also enforce a secure area in our building on Sundays, limiting access to our classrooms to parents and team members only, as signified by security badges and our check-in systems.

OUR LEADERS

Andy and Karina Hurst oversee and lead our children’s ministry by providing a safe environment for our little ones to learn about Jesus and by helping parents disciple their children at home. Andy and Karina have been married for almost 24 years, they have raised four children while traveling the world serving in the military. Andy grew up on the coast of North Carolina and is a true beach boy. He enjoys the beach, spending time with his family, and video games. Karina grew up in south Texas but calls North Carolina home now. She finds joy in being a wife and mother and her hobbies include gardening and quilting. They live on a small homestead and therefore could survive a zombie apocalypse for quite some time.
