WHAT ARE SMALL GROUPS?

At Frontline, we believe the church isn’t just a building or an event—it’s a community of people created by God to display His glory in the world. Those who trust in the finished work of Jesus are the church. As we see in Acts 2:42-47, we gather on Sundays to remember and be renewed in the Gospel, and we scatter into small groups that meet all over the area throughout the week. Small groups are gatherings of people who come together to be a faithfully present people who enjoy God, love people and push back darkness. Our groups are organized into three different terms (Spring, Summer and Fall) and are designed to promote Connection, Spiritual Formation or Mentorship (you can read more about these terms, types of groups, and see examples below). If you would like to join a group or have any questions, click the images below to be taken to our listing of all of the current small groups.

FIND A  GROUP

Connection groups are designed for those searching for or in need of relationships with others. These groups focus on gathering together over a meal in a home or over a shared interest to pursue friendship and life together.
Formation groups are designed to pursue a depth of spiritual formation in a group setting. These groups study scripture, sermon series topics and texts, books, or spiritual practices together. This could be a Missional Community, a smaller bible study that meets for a term, a group that meets together to pray intentionally, or a group that meets to discuss a specific book of the Bible.
Mentorship groups are designed to create an environment for mentorship toward a specific life stage or topic. They may meet for a term to explore what the Bible says about parenting, marriage, singleness, manhood/womanhood, etc.

TERMS & SABBATH

As a church, we aim to live with the grain of how God designed us in all areas. One of the aspects of how God made us was to labor for his glory as well as rest for his glory and our good. This is a sacred rhythm from God. In an aim to conform to this, our rhythms for small groups  as a church follow three terms throughout a given calendar year:
Term One: consists of February, March & April, followed by a month of sabbath rest in May.
Term Two: consists of June & July, followed by a month of sabbath rest in August.
Term Three: consists of September, October, and November, followed by a sabbath rest in December.
January serves as a training & reorienting month for our groups and leaders to ensure we are not drifting from the rhythms God’s given us, both for rest but also for intentional life and labor together.
Our small groups follow these terms when they meet, multiply, launch, and close. Some groups may remain as they are and meet throughout each of the terms. Other groups may function seasonally for one or two terms only.

INTERESTED IN LEADING A GROUP?

Anyone with a desire to lead a group that’s been approved by the elders of the church can lead one of these types of groups. If someone is interested in leading a group, they can fill out our interest form and attend a group training before one of the terms starts. We will teach and advise group leaders on how they might best lead the group they’re interested in leading. The elders and leaders of the church remain available as a resource for those leading groups. However, the group’s communication and meeting plan will be the leader's responsibility.
