SERMON | Communion: A Special Meal Given by Jesus | 1 Corinthians 11:23-30

Dec 28, 2025    John Murphy

Pastor John Murphy teaches that Communion is a sacred family meal given by Jesus that anchors believers in the gospel across time—past, present, and future. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 10–11, he explains that Communion is a meal of remembrance, calling us to look back and remember Christ’s real body broken and blood shed for us; a meal of presence, where Jesus is truly with His people by the Holy Spirit; a meal of anticipation, proclaiming Christ’s death while joyfully awaiting His promised return; and a family meal, uniting believers as one body who share in one bread. As we come to the table, we are invited to examine our hearts with humility and gratitude, remembering that Jesus died for us, is with us now, is coming again, and has made us His family.
