Pastor John Murphy showed us that we often turn relationships into something they were never meant to be by using others, comparing ourselves to others, or convincing ourselves we don’t need anyone. Ecclesiastes reminds us that we were created to need and enjoy relationships, but we can only truly enjoy them when we receive God as our source of life rather than asking people to provide the identity, belonging, and fulfillment only He can give. Through Jesus, we are reconciled to God and to one another, freeing us to love others and receive their love without needing relationships to secure our identity.
